Re: Give me 1 good reason why women shouldn\'t play b-ball on a lower rim
[ QUOTE ]
Pretty much just more exciting gameplay. Dunks/alley oops [/ QUOTE ] Lowering the rim isn't going to change women's overall jumping ability and hang time. The excitment of a dunk or alleyoop does not lie in the shot itself, but rather the shotmaker. Have you ever seen Shawn Bradley dunk? Could you possibly describe it as "exciting"? [ QUOTE ] probably more hard fouls/contact in the paint [/ QUOTE ] I'm not entirely sure that this would even be a consequence of lowering the rim, but even if it were, I don't see why it'd be beneficial. This stuff has ruined men's basketball to the point where there are all sorts of rules changes and proposed changes (widening the lane, raising the rim to 11 feet) aimed at cutting down on it. -McGee |

"Did you explain how the women's good fundamentals make up for their inability to dunk???" |

Tennis - fewer sets [/ QUOTE ] I could be wrong here but I don't think fewer sets is standard. I think that both men and women play 3 for everything except grand slams when the men play 5. |

Re: Give me 1 good reason why women shouldn\'t play b-ball on a lower rim
Actually, I think in regards to wanting respect as much as the men, they should play from the same tees, have the same rim height and same 3 point line as the men. Wanting to be considered equal in respect doesn't come with a crutch. If they admitted that they have it easier because of the concessions, it'd be a little different.

There would nowhere for these women/girls to play since every street/playground/gym already has ten foot hoops. Playing on one for fun, then competing on lower hoops would be awful

Re: Give me 1 good reason why women shouldn\'t play b-ball on a lower r
other than the benefit of more highlights the smaller, lighter basketball that they use will all be that changes i think.
also, it may limit the availability of the sport to women with gyms across the world having to have an actual second court for women. unless they just buy some of those roll-away hoops and set them at 10 feet. i do wish that the wnba began with lower rims but now change seems kind of a hindrance. |

Reason #1: Nobody gives a [censored] about women's basketball.

Re: Give me 1 good reason why women shouldn\'t play b-ball on a lower r
Because all the basketball rims in America are already built at 10 feet. It would be a huge pain in the ass to have separate rims for men and women. Adjustable backboards suck and break easier. Most high schools have just one gym with rims that are not designed to change height.
