Default NL50 6-max: How not to play AJs

I just sat down at the table and folded the first 3 hands or so.

I think I played this hand badly, but want your input on the mistakes I did.

1. He reraises my raise in the SB - medium to high pocket pair or something like AK. I probably should've folded my AJs here.

2. I hit my ace but check after him on the flop. I should have bet here to get some information on what he feels about that ace.

3. I hit my jack and he bets about 2/3 pot. I feel calling here is fine because any raise would probably only get action from hands that crush me.

4. He goes all-in for slightly more than pot. I was planning on calling a small bet or to check it down. He won't be doing this for value with something I can beat, and he should be worried about me slowplaying something - so I can't see him doing this with anything but QQ or AA.

What did I learn? Fold preflop. Don't play huge pots with hands you don't really want action from unless you flop nut flush or house.

c-bet the flop for sure, doing so changes the way the entire hand plays out. As played I think the turn and river are fine.

You can't cbet when you call preflop. Its not a cbet.

Seems like KK and AK should be in his range as well. You've under-repped your two pair. I would consider calling the river as played, but it's marginal.

I would definitely either bet the flop (to slow him down for the rest of the hand, or fold to the c/r on the spot) or raise the turn (to see a cheap showdown).
