Books
As I'm about to place a $50 order on Amazon, and often when I buy books, I wonder if it's a dumb idea. I love the idea of building a library (although mine isn't very impressive or deep right now), but on the other hand, I wonder "I'm not gonna read these again, so why should I spend $10-$15 a pop?"
What do you do re: books? And I mean real books...not reference books (e.g. poker) that you will obviously return to. |

Re: Books
i buy. if you can wait a little longer, you can usually find pretty cheap stuff from the amazon marketplace sellers.

Re: Books
I used to buy pretty much everything, but I had copies of tons of stuff I'd never read again, so mostly due to space constraints I've started going to the library a lot more.

Re: Books
I buy. Nothing better than the smell of a new B&N purchase.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah...I'm in NYC. Space isn't really an issue right now...I've got a rather large place in Wash Heights. Agreed the library system is great and I could get my hands on just about anything I wanted to read. There's an aesthetic appeal to having a home library. I just wanted a sense of what OOT does. |

Re: Books
I'm about 50/50. When I'm in DC, I buy more because the library's crappy. I'm in Cleveland now, and I borrow more because the library is awesome. When I buy, I usually buy unimpressive-looking paperbacks, so the home library stuff is pretty far from my mind. I do reread stuff more frequently than most though, so that's sometimes important to me.

Re: Books
Go to your local used book store, you will be amazed at the selection and price.
