Default Four Years for Murder?

Man beats his friend to death and gets four years.

BBC link

Doesn't that seem like an extremely light sentence?

Given the guy is Scottish, the court probably granted leniency for his not eating the guy he killed.

However he added: "The fact remains your friend lost his life, his family has lost the deceased and in particular his little girl has lost a father and you are responsible."

That's nothing. In my area a few years ago a women t-boned a family of three killing the wife 2-year old child and crippling the husband. She ran a red light and her excuse was she "wasn't paying attention."

She got a $500 fine and 90 day suspended DL. She argued at the sentencing that it was unfair because her wedding was coming up in 2 months and she had to drive around a lot to get things done.

At least this guy got four years...

Wow, how does this kind of stuff happen? How is allowed to happen? 90 days suspension and she has the nerve to complain? So gross.

Just because he said it happened, doesn't mean it happened. Or he is leaving out crucial details, and his version is biased. Courts don't just make unfair rulings randomly.

But don't mind me, continue your sharing of indignation.

I spent a night in jail for having a beer when I was under 21. True story.

That woman sounds like a bitch, but I don't see how you can compare that story to a guy getting four years to beating a friend to death with his bare hands over a Playstation. Like she said, she just wasn't paying attention, whereas this guy deliberately beat someone until he died.

Seriously did you even read the story, sounds more like they had a fight, he may have knocked him out or down, and actually just thought he was sleeping later when he found him in the lobby and carried the same guy up to his flat. It's hardly beat his friend to death, more likely and unfortunate blow.
