Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
I love opentable, especially for out-of-town trips.

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
El Dilettante,
Can I call you El Dilettante? Thanks. Um don't you have a forum more appropriate for the small % of people who gives 2 [censored] [censored] where you eat? I mean, while that sushi thread where you went into detail about what you ordered and what it cost should be stickied, I feel this post would get many more responses in the EL Dilettante forum. Personally, I am thrilled that you found out whether to eat the soup before/after the main course. I mean can you imagine the faux pas of eating soup out of order? O.........M.........G!! I don't use OpenTable. I don't think I've even heard of it. But I am a struggling nouveau riche and quite sure I will need this in the not too distant future. Also, if you're thinking about buying a shirt, could you let me know what's cool? I am so out of it when it comes to fashion. I'm leaning towards something white with alot of gibberish logos- L.A. style. I think those are hot right now. El Dilettante please keep us up to date on all the edgy, cool stuff you are doing. Perhaps post it in the form of a question so you can have a platform. Thanks. |

JAK,
Weird that you would choose to open a thread and compose a lengthy response about something that you don't care about at all. |

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
I guess I'm the lamest of all for never having used the site--what's the main benefit/convenience of it and what's the +100 stuff?

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
shaniac,
Pretty straightforward. Pick your city. Filter by cuisine, neighborhoods, pricing, etc., as much or as little as you want. Then pick a time and it'll show you available reservations around that time. If you want to have sushi or steak or whatever with a group of 4 Saturday night, you just sign on to OpenTable.com and it'll show you a bunch of choices. I like it so much better than having to call around. You get points that are not really worth anything every time you make a reservation, that's what those +100s are, they just show up on your activity listing. |

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
NC,
I signed up in 2001, but didn't really use it much until 2006, when tons of restaurants in SF had signed up. Its usefulness is definitely VERY highly related to how widespread adoption is in a city. |

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
Everytime that I used opentable and it said there were no reservations available for the night, I would call up the restaurant and they would have times open.

Re: OpenTable users - where have you gone to dinner this year?
I didn't know people actually used OpenTable. I'll have to give it a shot. I was always worried it wouldn't work right, so I just called.
