Default drinking 3 gallons of water in 24 hours

Is this possible, I have a bet with a friend who is about 5'9 155lbs. he claims he can do this easily, if he does do this will he die? Should I take the bet or what?

Take the bet, because if he does it and dies you won't have to pay him.

this is about 23 bottles of water. Very easy to do over the course of a day. if you do this, though, make sure he doesn't die from water overdose.

He wont die if he is allowed to piss.

I say he can do it no prob if he can piss. Obviously impossible and he may die if no peeing allowed.

Seems pretty easy if I would be allowed to exercise, but I drink a lot of water anyway.

RivaLiva,

I agree. If you can runs and sweat your balls off... Ship it.

Note: Think about how many beers you drink when you go out... And you aren't even thirsty!

I think I've done this without trying.

Damn it does seem kinda easy by the ways you guys put it, maybe we'll switch the bet up, I know my freshman year of college I drank 29 beers before puking it all up, so 23 or so bottles of water sounds weak. So I am going to propose a new bet to him, I'll drink a beer for X amt. of water, how much water should he have to drink for each of my beers? and pissing is aloud.

Sigh.....
The odds are, assuming that your friend is otherwise healthy and spaces his intake out over the 24 hours somewhat evenly that he'll be OK.
OTOH, as little as three to four liters at a single sitting done rapidly can be dangerous. Rather than going into a long explanation of electrolyte shifts, take a look at wikipedia under water intoxication.

If the point of the bet is to ingest a certain amount of fluid in 24 hrs., use gatorade or something similar.
If the point of the bet is to off your friend so you can steal his girl, drop me a pm....there are all sorts of more efficient ways to get that done....

I'd advise against it

Second link to think about

Even if the subject is allowed to urinate, it is still a bad idea.

I also searched OD on water and 2+2 is the first two links...
