Americanisms fixed - in the UK school != university. Beyond that, sorry, I don't know anything about Queen Mary.

I'm from east London, but I don't really understand what you want to know about it. Queen Mary is in Mile End, near Bethnal Green and Hackney which have pretty bad reputations for crime and drugs. There's also not much night life around there, so you're probably going to be going into central London most of the time, so prepare for travel expenses, which are very high.

Lennie,

That kind of stuff is basically what i wanted to know...really any info that i wouldn't read on the student website. Thanks for the reply, that's interesting.

also - travel expense suck. The 'tube' is really expensive there?

Also, do you know how far from oxford this is and if there is any public transportation from london to ox?

Oxford's like sixty miles out of London. Trains out of Paddington will probably take about an hour.

The East End isn't all that bad; lots of good nightlife in and around Liverpool St (Shoreditch) areas. Everywhere is expensive so just get used to it.

The tube stops quite early for a 24hr city (1am latest latest depending on lines); night buses aren't too bad.....
You can get the train to Oxford easily, but it's quite a way away.

You wont be too far from the Gutshot poker club (small cash games and tournies running regularly).
