Alright, here goes my things.

Dayton - Splash Moraine, by far one of the best waterparks evar.

Chicago - I don't know when you're going, but if you are before XMas, definitely go to Michigan Boulevard and/or Navy Pier. If not, still go and visit the amazing streets full of fun stuff to do. Many casino are in the region too - Harrah's, Horseshoe, Mystic, many others within say 30 minutes.

Madison - Wisconsin Dells anyone? Themepark capital of the world. Ho Chunk is nearby as well (casino)

Minneapolis - There are some great, great golf courses around the Minnesota area if you're interested. Canterbury also nearby (big poker place)

Bismarck - Prairie Knights Casino is around Bismarck if I remember correctly, alot of forestry/wildlife too. If you could, make it down to South Dakota and visit Mount Rushmore.

Billings - Alot of casinos around this area too. Not sure, but last time I was there (yeah, I've been to Montana too lol) there were like 5 within a 10 mile radius.

Seattle - Obviously the Space Needle, the Boeing Plant offers tours, definitely interesting when I was there years ago.

No clue about rental cars, the one that comes to mind is Hertz, but I don't know prices or what not. I do alot of traveling too, taken many similar trips like this, always tons of fun.

do not go through fargo bismarck dickinson it is the flattest, no trees, nothing but prairie, worst 6 hour interstate drive possible and nothing fun exists west of fargo or minneapolis this time of year for that matter. I would hit up a little farther south go through south dakota possibly a detour to deadwood and head through yellowstone. Much more scenic with mount rushmore, the badlands, crazy horse, etc. although both lack a lot of fun stuff. Canterbury is a huge poker room in minneapolis like jsmith said however it only runs limit hold em as minnesota law doesnt allow more than 60 dollars to be initially bet on a street IIRC prior to raises

Alright, not a problem. Trying to think of things I did when I took my north(west) road trip, but I mostly went through the forests/hiking and golfed where available, which I doubt you prefer to do heh

renting a car..

national rent a car is the cheapest.. u can pick up from charleston and drop off in seattle..

its about 500$ depending on how long drive is.. its like 515 for 7 days.. so i bet it'll be less.. maybe more.. but within that range.. thats for like a Pontiac G6 car..

looking up things to do.. but this is the best car rental place

This is from my seventh ever post on 2+2, and it still applies here.

I've taken some pretty awful road trips before, usually due to lack of preparation. I'm on the east coast, so I'm not sure about specifics of where to stop, but I can give you pretty decent supplies checklist. For a road trip of this magnitude you will need the following:

2 cartons of cigarettes
1 large picnic cooler
1 bag of ice
2 cases beer (domestic, cans)
2 4-packs Red Bull
1 package condoms (optional)
1 functional radar detector
3 bags chips (doritos, fritos)
2 lighters (one backup)
1 portable dvd player
1 cigarette-lighter-adaptor cell phone charger
1 large bottle advil
1 large bottle pepcid complete
