I don't think opponent is stupid enough to call 5th. I do admit that a bet there might be a good move. I wouldn't do it all the time. Maybe 50/50.
Don't you think that check on 5th encouraged villain to bet/call 6th? Him folding 5th is like my worst nightmare. I don't automaatically think LAGs are stupid - they're not usually or generally calling stations. They just like to take advantage of (perceived) weakness. It's been a while but I seem to recall from Theory of Poker that if you have a hand that does not fear very many cards on the next street, then you can make a small mistake (not betting the favorite) to induce an opponent to make a larger one. Now in this case villain did draw his best possible card and he was not a big underdog, so his bet/call is fairly understandable. I think he would have done the same thing with 4-9 though and he might call the river there also. |
