Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
[ QUOTE ]
Vince Young is terrible. I wouldn't trade the Vikings' QBs for the Titans'. [/ QUOTE ] Factoring in salary this might be true, otherwise I would disagree. |

Wtf, it's cheese. I guess you guys have been eating a lot of [censored] dry ass meat.
Also, I can agree somewhat with Mike Vick, but Vince Young has never appeared to be a good NFL QB to be. |

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
When was Vick a quality QB? I mean he could run but ask him to throw a 7 yard slant and he'd look absolutely foolish. You say you watch the game and throw out the starts then how could you miss Vick's rushing passes, bad passes and bad reads? He was probably the most erractic QB in the NFL
With Harrington at QB, Roddy White looks a much better WR and his stats are way up. Vick was a threat with his legs but as a QB I think he was vastly overrated if anything. |

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
[ QUOTE ]
When was Vick a quality QB? [/ QUOTE ] 2002. 10th ranked passer according to DPAR that year (9th in DVOA), and his rushing bumps him up a few more spots; factor in how he opens things up for the RBs and he was quite possibly a top 5 QB that year. I wonder why he regressed as a passer after that (39th in passing DPAR in '04, 26th in '05, 37th in '06). The common perception is that he was too cocky, and disdained film study hard work in practice, but I have no idea whether or to what extent that's true. |

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
[ QUOTE ]
You think there are only 10 above average QBs in the league? [ QUOTE ] If the Vikes had an actual "average qb" they would be leading the NFC. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe if Tarvaris Jackson hadn't thrown half the Vikes' passes, they'd have a better record. Holcomb hasn't really been that bad - he's played the KC defense which only Favre has looked good against. He's still managing 6 ypa and has only turned the ball over once. I mean, he hasn't been great, but he's at least been half-competent. [/ QUOTE ] Vikes could easily be undefeated with a top 10 QB, turns out they are 3-5. |

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
The job of a QB isn't to pass, it's to execute the scheme. If the scheme calls for you to run around in it and you execute that well and win games, good. That's the idea. Vick was excellent at this for the most part. Who cares if Roddy White is catching more passes with Harrington? That is irrelevent.

If Vick is so bad why has Atlanta taken such a hit this year?

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
Minnesota's average loss looks something like this:
MN @ DET - T. Jackson throws 4 ints and the Vikes miss the game winning FG (off the post) in OT Jackson goes down, Brooks fumbles the snap a few plays later. DET drives down and scores. - [Vikes win pending QB committing less than 5 turnovers] OT: Final Score 17-20 |

Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
BillNye,
By average do you mean worst loss thus far in the season against Detroit. Also Atlanta hasn't taken that big a hit last year they weren't very good. When you have a team built around one player and need to rebuild the team implement a new scheme and have the head coach dealing with a mutiny it isn't that surprising they went from below average to bottom 5 teams. |
