Guys who think their ugly girlfriends are hot (NSFW)

This pic on CollegeHumor (NSFW) got me thinking about guys who have ugly/mediocre girlfriends but seem to think they are dating the hottest woman on Earth. Why do a lot of guys do this? I mean, there are far worse looking asses out there than the one in the pic, but is that really an ass worthy of bragging that you "just tapped that?" (not to mention the girl's lack of self-respect for letting her boyfriend do that, that's a whole other thread) What is with these guys? I know several guys personally who are dating mediocre-looking chicks but go around talking them up like they're [censored] Jessica Biel.

Do they actually think their ugly girlfriend is hot? (I'm not talking about mere my-opinion-versus-your-opinion ugliness, I mean chicks that no one in their right mind would find attractive)

Are they somehow trying to convince themselves they're dating a hot chick by going around telling everyone how hot their GF is?

Someone, please explain this to me.

I think it's kinda dumb to brag about banging women, but whatever rocks your world. I generally have really bizarre taste in women so whenever I tell my friends about hot girls I'm dating they never take me seriously.

I never brag about women because I know I have different tastes than other men. Also guys who brag about having sex without women who are not amazingly hot or famous are pretty lame.

There is a whole science devoted to subjects like this, its called Socialogy, some people are interested in how humans intereact. Now, quit being a douche just because things hit a little to close to home.

looks aren't a huge deal for a lot of guys. surprise surprise.

also, some guys just don't have high standards. an ugly chick > no chick for many...

If looks aren't a big deal why are they going around bragging about how good-looking their girlfriends are?

I understand that a lot of guys don't really care about looks that much or have low standards, but that's not really who I'm talking about here. It's guys who are always saying stuff like "Yeah, my girlfriend went to the bar last night, I hate when she goes without me because dudes hit on her all the time" and similar passing references to their girlfriend's supposed hotness when the rest of us are looking at each other like "WTF, that chick is nasty"
