NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
a) Nice river, what do I do? I guess that's why you play connectors in LP and not EP.
b) Do you like this chase or am I a dumb chaser? Button is 53/23/2.6, notes say "limped AQ EP". Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $9.20 UTG+1: $11.50 MP1: $1.85 MP2: $1.85 MP3: $9.90 CO: $1.75 Button: $16.18 SB: $1.40 Hero: $11.60 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 folds, MP2 calls, 2 folds, Button raises to $0.3, SB folds, Hero calls, MP2 calls. Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
First of all, I wouldn't have chased it. I'm not sure we're getting enough implied odds to call the flop or the turn. I'm not a big fan of the preflop call, but that's personal preference, I think.
Trying to think like the button, I'm probably sitting on an overpair or AJ. I'd bet about $4, and hope he pushes. But, a c/r all-in is very tempting here, because I'd be worried that alarm bells would sound if you bet here. |

Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
Yeah, I think I butchered this hand. I feared he checks behind here, but puts me on a busted spade draw that wants the side pot if I push and pushed.

Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
That's what I did, I shoved for 1/2 pot; he mucked. The funny thing is this lagtard could have been on air or overs the whole time IMHO (which is why chasing is even more stupid I think).

I think checkraise allin is the most EV+ here |

Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
I don't like the call PF with a weak hand OOP, and I don't like the call on the flop. Your are out of position and a raiser is still left to act. You only have an OESD and have no idea what it's going to cost to see even the next card.
Turn call is bad- you aren't getting the odds you need to chase. Nice river. Shove is the only real play here. |

Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
Yes, you're all right. On the flop I may be facing a raise AI from the button (which would be EV- to call as there's not enough dead money in the pot).
On the turn to call $3 I need to win approx $12.50 when I hit; which means I must stack the button 100% of the time I hit (which I obviously cannot do). Bad chase. |

Re: NL10: chasing a straight and getting it
Fold PF.
As played, lead river for value. This is not a time to be chasing. |
