Default NLTRN $11 - 77 preflop

villain is pretty tight. actually plays pretty well. i assume folding is always out of the question here (is this true for any pocket pair?). what are the arguments to either smooth-call or raise all in?

I think smooth calling is really only a good option if stacks are deeper, allowing for much more post flop play. With the blinds at 25/50, I think this is a push. 77 is a little low, but against a tight opponent your fe is decent, and if you don't think you have a significant advantage over him, then a race wouldn't be so bad. The only way I wouldn't push is if villain never raises, thus indicating a monster. In this case you have little fe and big potential if you set.

If he's tight you should have the fold equity to make this work, most players aren't calling everything they raise to 150 with.

And I'd fold some PPs against certain players.

This hand I shove.
