Default Newbe Question

You're in a multi-table event and a player declares "I'm all-in".

Question: Is the dealer supposed to wait until someone asks how much it is before counting down the chips? I thought they were. In other words, I didn't think the dealer was supposed to automatically count down the chips or state aloud how much it is to call, unless someone specifically asks. Thanks.

You're right, the dealer shouldn't touch the chips until asked for a count or when someone calls.

Geez, sorry guys. I almost put it in B&M, but thought there were more experienced tourney people here who would know. So strategy only, huh? Mods can move if it's that out of place. Sorry again.
