walmart/costco laptop help?
So im looking to get a new laptop for under $1,000. Possibly even under $800...
My requirements are that I can run PT/PAHUD/pokersites on it and play some decent video games also. I would like a screen bigger than 15.4" but realize that it would probably kick the price up out of my range, so that may not be possible. I went to my local wal-mart/costco/sam's club and found some decent but not great laptops within my price range.. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they decent/reliable? Maybe I could find a better deal at pricewatch/fatwallet/ect.. Can anyone reccomend a good laptop within my price range? Thanks |

Re: walmart/costco laptop help?
I'm a Dell fan. I like HP/Compaq ok too, but I personally advise my customers to stay away from most other brands if they can help it.
Here is a perfect example of a computer that I would be leary of Acer 17" $599 It is definitely a great price though..... I would be comfortable with any of the following laptops. With a 15.4" screen you can definitely add some more options, warranties etc and stay under $1,000. Once you bump up to the 17" screen, you are getting very limited on your upgrade room while keeping it cheap. I have bought a few of these new Dell Vostro laptops for customers and they are very nice. I like the new matte black case too. Dell 17" $799 Dell 17" $899 Dell 15.4" $599 |

Re: walmart/costco laptop help?
As far as processors go... Should I be looking to get AMD, intel celeron, intel core duo, or intel core 2 duo??
I have always heard intel is better than AMD, but to avoid the celerons. |
