Default Vegas and free booze at poker table question

I like booze and I like gambling.

In Australian casino's your lucky to get a free coffee. With my first trip to Vegas soon I don't want to look like an idiot with my booze requests. Say I'm playing mid stakes poker can I order pretty much anything from the bar?

Thanks for the help with my noob question. I also plan on getting some time in at a couple of the LA rooms, would it be the same at the Commerce and Bike?

Cheers!

In Vegas, it depends where you play. All Vegas casinos provide free beer, wine and spirits of some quality level, so if you're not picky, play anywhere. Generally, the more upscale the casino, the broader and better the liquor selection. The Venetian, in particular, seemed to offer whatever I wanted, whether that was reasonably good scotches or strawberry daiquiris.

I don't know about LA, but in northern California, the cardrooms do not serve free drinks. Enjoy your visit!

High-end champagnes and MacAllan scotch, you won't get. Ditto regional stuff like Crocodile Snout beer. But everything else is game. Just ask if they have it. Some poker rooms only give you middle-of-the-road hooch. Some, like Bally's, let you order just about anything withing reason. You can order the $25 a bottle bourbon as well as the $10 stuff.

No free booze in Cali cardrooms, AFAIK.

Actually, IIRC, the Venetian does serve Macallan scotch, even at the low limit poker tables. Granted, I'm sure it was only the 12 year, or maybe the waitress was lying to me.

I've had no problem ordering doubles/triples of premium vodka and red bull at Mirage, Wynn, and Ex calibur.

Venetian, Wynn, and Bellagio are the only places to get higher end stuff like Grey Goose, Ketel One, Patron, etc. Every place will offer a somewhat decent selection for free, and obviously the nicer the place, the more likely they are to have better selection. Make sure to tip at least $1 on each drink. If your waitress is walking by and obviously not stopping at your table or if shes dropping off drinks, don't bother her. Wait until she comes by and specifically asks for orders from your table...if you miss her, then thats your fault and you have to wait until she comes again. Theres nothing wrong with asking if they have one or two beers in particular, but don't waste too much of her time as its affecting her ability to make money(and making everyone else in the casino wait longer for drinks).

Untrue. Being a smaller hotel doesn't necessarily mean you won't get quality booze for free. All you have to do is ask. If she doesn't know for sure, give her an alternate in case they don't have it(or won't give it for free).

Thanks for the everyone's input. I did plan on getting some time in at the Mirage and Wynn so will give the triple vodka redbulls a try!
Good to know about the cali rooms too. I may actually win some money if I stay relatively sober.
Salut!

All I said was:

"the nicer the place, the more likely they are to have better selection"

and I stand behind that statement. That doesn't mean you won't find some cheaper hotels with good selection.
