Default Re: Poker In Macau

Before going I searched the internet about no limit holdem poker in Macau, and only found this thread.

I was in Sands, Wynn, Galaxy, Babylon and Lisboa casinos, they don't have holdem poker just yet. At Sands they have Carribean and Three card poker according to the lobby receptionist.

Right now it's all about baccarat and the chinese market I guess.

Lebowski-

Mahjong is a skill game, especially the Japanese "reach" rules and there are pro's.
A league in Tokyo has about 500 members. There are about 50 pro's featured in a networked arcade game in Japan, Hong Kong and Macau.

I just skimmed the thread; it seems nobody has yet mentioned the very good article on page 96 of the September, 2007 issue of Atlantic Monthly. It's titled "Macau's Big Gamble" and was written by the always interesting James Fallows.

Here's the link but I'm fairly certain you have to subscribe and register to get it to work.

I live in mainland China and visited Macau last month. There's absolutely no poker around. You'll have to pay for drinks and food, too (as opposed to AC or Vegas). Macau is flashy but definitely not worth it unless you like blackjack or baccarat... Just a heads up!

Would be interesting to know the rake on the Macau pokerpro tables. Probably astronomical.
