K,

You have to check out Italy, it's awesome. It and Spain are my two favorite European countries. Check out Nolanfan's awesome trip report. You seriously HAVE TO go.

You also HAVE TO check out the great Indian restaurant. Good Indian restaurant dishes are nothing like what is cooked at home and nothing like what is cooked at lesser Indian places. Check out this Indian food thread for suggestions.

You definitely MUST expand your horizons when it comes to travel destinations and food!

My travel destinations are just fine thanks. I've done South Africa, various Canadian locales and Sinaloa, MX on my own. As a couple, we've done Belize, Costa Rica twice, Panama, Venezuela, Isla De Mujeres, and various Canadian locales. We purchased a beach property a few years ago, so we spend more time there now and don't travel elsewhere as much now.

I'll look into that Italy and Spain thing you mentioned. I'm allergic to Indian food, so thanks but not thanks on those recommendations.

Santo Domingo baby!

That or Nicaragua.

I've been to Nicaragua on a day-trip from northern Costa Rica. I'd go back if they'd stop kidnapping people.

I've never been to either place, but it's quite obvious to me that Italy is going to be 1000x better than freaking Chile. You're gonna really regret it if you go to Chile instead of Italy.

I can't decide how many posters are leveling and how many really really missed the point of the OP. edfurlong's post was hilarious as usual.

I really like the OP and I have observed similar behavior. I don't know why people get so insistent about things, maybe it's just base insecurity. They want everyone to agree with everyone else on everything so they can't abide any dissension, even if it's something innocuous like where to go on vacation or what to eat.

I am especially amazed at the treatment I get when I am on a diet. "No thanks, I'm on a diet" seems to be like a personal challenge for people to make me break my diet. "Come on, just one bite," etc. WTF do you try to get reformed alcoholics or smokers to backslide, too? Leave me alone you douchebags.
