Default Responsibility of shrinks

So I was seeing a shrink for a couple years. I had an appointment in mid January that the doc had to cancel. They left me a voicemail telling me to call and reschedule. I haven't and they've not followed up. Should they have called me back? I mean, I could have offed myself or something since I haven't been getting my meds. Am I off base in thinking he should be a little more pro-active with my care?

I had no interest in your post, but I knew I'd see your avatar if I clicked it, so I did.

Yes. Physicians don't assume full responsibility for patients that they are providing care to. Unless they have good reason to think that you are a danger to yourself or others they won't write up an order to have you hauled in.

Why don't you just give 'em a call and reschedule?

I'm guessing that his disorder is preventing him from doing so.

Dude, take a hint.
Even your shrink doesn't like you.
You know what to do.

if you are one of those, twice a month appts, low dose of lexapro patients, yes you are off base. you should be reponsible enough for your own care to call back yourself.

if you are nearly psychotic and on high doses of dopamine, no you are not off base. that is scary that they didn't even notice you never rescheduled, get a new shrink FAST.
