Folding is terrible. Are you 90, 95% certain you are beat? Hell, nothing in life is so certain, definitely not at a 3/6 live table. Pot is large. At least call if you're worried. Maybe he has AK/AJ or hearts, which you can beat.

Or you lose, but it's easily worth that one last call to find out. I'd say you win more than 5/10% of the time - I really do not like to fold the one last big bet in a big pot (heads-up especially), I will sometimes call with A high in this situation if villian is LAGgy enough (missed semi-bluff/draw) and the pot is huge. If he has you beat he beat you a while ago and not on this one last river bet. Plus the table talk did not scare me and may have been intended to. I am no expert just regurgitating what I read in "Small Stakes Hold 'Em".

I wish I was good enough to fold this, because he almost always has JJ/KK here.

What is this "if I ws better I would fold"?

This is like the big laydowns are what make great players type of thinking. Paying off with good hands is part of the game. We call and we win often enough to make it profitable.

Folding - if it is an option - is highly read specific and I don;t like it anyway. Call - if he made his set get him next time when you make yours and both keep dominating the loose, poorly skilled and passive players at this limit.

Why do I constantly hear stuff like this in SS? Even if his range is AA, KK, JJ, we still have the odds to call for our half of the pot.

In this case there is some doubt if your hand is goot or not, Villain is drinking, pot is good sized=call. He leads into you on the river with all that action it doesn't look good for you but call. Also when he talks what does that tell you? I make laydowns occasionally when there is no doubt that I am beat but our reads have to be very very specific and we have to know the player pretty well.

We should rephrase the phrase "If I were good enough I could fold this" to "I am good enough so I am Calling this"

Be interested to see what The Great Swami had here after some others have chimed in

If my calculations are correct there are 13.5 BB's in the pot. We need to win this one time in about 13 or 14 times at the river here just to break even. Once in a while we will pick this up. But as many have said...you are probably beat. I think you are probably beat here. But I think you need to call on the end here. I would be curious to know the results.

From SSHE Page 202: " Even if you are almost sure that you are beaten, when the pot is large on the river, do not fold decent hands for one bet. "
