Value check the turn?
Backstory. Amazing 20/40 late night game at the Borg. Kit's sweating me, and I just raked a pretty huge pot with AA the last hand. As he said "I'm running well, and playing well, and that's a damned tough thing to beat." My image is solidly aggro, I think.
I have KK UTG and raise. Two callers, absolutely terrible SB treys, passive old BB calls, I cap, all call. 5 to the flop of QQ5r Checks to me, I bet, blinds call. Turn: 5 Checks to me. My move? |

Re: Value check the turn?
Depends on what you call "absolutely terrible SB". I'm sure you have more specific reads on him, don't you? If he's terrible as he 3 bets any Ace and holds onto A high to see a river, then bet. I wouldn't worry about the queen yet.
If not, then probably check to induce a bluff. This hand is too much dependent on post flop reads to give a more definitive answer in my opinion. |

Re: Value check the turn?
He's absolutely terrible in that he never folds preflop. He has a little tricky in him, but is fairly passive postflop.
I lean towards checking because someone with half a brain knows there is a 0% chance I have a Q here unless I have exactly QQ. I don't know if they're thinking at that level, but I was mildly concerned with getting played with from AK, JJ or TT. |

[/ QUOTE ] In this case, against a fairly passive and a passive opponent, I definitely bet. Get that extra bb from any pp. Passive players may not bet the river with an underpair when the board double pairs, and your "value check" is ruined. I don't think "a little tricky" players c/r here often enough with JJ TT or AK. Please consider that I've played the Borgata 20/40 less than ten times though. |

Re: Value check the turn?
man, you can't "value check" KK multiway in such a huge pot. who cares if you get c/r, you can't fold anyway.
bet the turn. |

Re: Value check the turn?
This isn't even close to a value check situation.
You probably have the best hand and your opponents are probably going to pay you off. Much different from a value turn check where you don't want to get raised because that puts you in a tough situation (here of course we are calling down in this big pot) and where your opponent may bluff lead the river. |
