Random question: I was wondering why do these big game players play at a raked game, when they could just as easily play at one of their homes? No rake...More profit, more privacy?

Yeah, I guess so. I'd think these players would be able to get people to come play at an unraked game pretty easily though?

One of them could set up something like a home casino. I'm amazed no-one's thought of this before!

One of them could set up something like a home casino. I'm amazed no-one's thought of this before! [/ QUOTE ] It is much easier to cheat at a home game. It's also much easier to rob one. If strangers in a casino invited me to a private game I would be suspicious. Not saying I wouldn't go, or that it would necessarilly be crooked, but I would be suspicious and careful. There are lots of scumbags at casino's, including in the poker room. Go look up Russ G. on RGP. He ran a team of guys that cheated the high stakes games in LA casino's for many years. If he can get away with that in a casino, what do you think is possible in home games? |

[/ QUOTE ] Do you think they care about whatever low rake they were paying? In return they get a professional dealer, a safe and comfortable environment, good service (I presume) and the occasional fish that also wants to play. The question is much more relevant at low stakes, but the same argument applies. |
