Home game madness: Is this a call?
First of all, not quite sure where to post this, so bear with me.
Anyways, here goes: I wasn't involved in the hand, but the guy who introduced me to poker made a good/insane call in a home game and I wanted to check how +ev the call was. Alreet, so the game is pretty much $200NL (converted from Norwegian Kroner so approx, i'm not quite sure) and people are drunk. Last hand of the night, some donkey openpushes to steal the blinds. Folded to my mate in the BB. Donkey exposes a duece, and dared him to call. My mate looks down at pocket 2's and snap call. 22 > 92off and he wins a whole buyin with the sickest home game hand i've seen so far. But the question is, is this really a profitable call seeing as 22, even tho favorite over 2x, can be counterfeited in so many ways? |

I call that as we're a 75/25 favorite to win the hand almost (he's drawing to his 3 live overs). I don't think I fold ever if I get showed a deuce.

[/ QUOTE ] This is true of course, but is it possible to run some numbers to see how often 22 will be counterfeited? Surely this is important to know when making such calls. |

Re: Home game madness: Is this a call?
play around with pokerstove and/or the calculator at twodimes.net to figure out your equity. 22 is a favorite against any hand that has a 2 in it. against any hand with a 2 in it (aside from the other 22), you have at least 60% equity. against a range of {22, 32, 42, 52, 62, 72, 82, 92, T2, J2, Q2, K2, A2}, you have 65.5% equity.
to put it another way, on average, you expect to make about $30 by making the call. so call if you like money |
