Default First BBV

Brag: I love poker.
Beat: I'm broke.
Variance: I shortstack NL25.

I just started shortstacking NL25 and I was wondering when you sit out. If I start with 5 should I start a new game when I am at 10, 15, 20? I know that Ferguson says you should sit out when you double up, but I think this is problematic. You are missing out on so much possible value by only having the min at ALL times.

Thoughts?

play on party. after doubling up, leave and rejoin same table with $5. if you are successful and start doing it on the higher limits you'll get lots of friends here.

No, you aren't. Shortstacking is a likely tourniquet for you.

C'mon jokes aside, any insight? I know shortstacking is slightly taboo, but aren't Greenstein and Ferguson advocates of shortstacking? Does anyone know what they say on when to sitout?

$10-15 and you should be out (sit out next blind). If your goal with shortstacking is to build a bankroll, and since you claim you're broke, I assume you're probably sitting with >5% of your roll on the table even buying in at the minimum.

The larger your stack gets, the more chances you are to become victim to a bigger stack that can catch you in a single big hand.

Minimize your risk, get up when you have 2 to 3 times the minimum buyin on the table, read up, practice, and then attempt to play more of a "real" game once you have enough behind you to handle the swings.

If you play by Ferguson rules, you can stick around as long as what you have on the table never represents more than 10% of your total roll. This is probably a pretty good rule to go by, so if in doubt just go with that.
