Friend blows massive chiplead in PLO tournament(rad reason)
So one of my best friends just called me. He is probably the only one who is reasonably decent at poker. He does pretty well online, etc. Anyway, he has become an Omaha8 junkie lately and plays only plo8 donkaments. So yesterday he decides hes going to play the 11 dollar single rebuy plo tournament.
So he is 3 hours in, calls me and tells me how much he is pwning. has a 1.5x chiplead on 2nd place guy with 15 left out of like 1k. A few hands later he gets AKQ2 DS, gets in a raising war with 2nd place guy, they get all in preflop and the board is 854T8, so im thinking "sick he wins at least half". Full pot ships to second place. Im going, wait, wtf, yes the other guy has the high, but we have the low...then we both realize...my friend was playing a plo tournament thinking it was a plo8 tournament for that long. I have no idea how this happened, but he told me he kept getting all in with like AK24 and his opponent would call him a donkey. Now it all makes sense, and is a pretty awesome story imo. He does seem a bit pissed about blowing a bunch of money due to retardation. But then I reminded him that he probably just got sick sick sick lucky to be the chipleader in a game he thought was a different game and I imagine things would have been far different had he realized this from the beginning. i know most of us have done this with entering the wrong sng or something at one time or another, but this was def my favorite "thinking its one game while its actually another" story. |
