Default Why do I suck? (video and stats)

So I have been on a ridiculous 10 buy in downswing at 10nl. I can not for the life of me figure out why it is that I am having such a hard time beating the game that I destroyed for the last six months.

A little background:

I was playing 25nl and beating it for about 8bb/100 over 19k hands and I cashed out all but 50 of my bankroll so that I could help my band purchase a van for a tour that we had planned this summer, and other expenses. I just wanted to have some funds online to mess around with while I waited to leave.

I quickly built my $50 bankroll into a $200 roll for 10nl and have since dropped 10 buy ins since the beginning of this month. I know that I have been suffering from a slight case of fancy play syndrome, which will lead to some of the buy ins that I blew by trying to bluff people off middle pair.

I am really trying to figure out what it is that is preventing me from beating the easiest game there is. I am going to make a few videos for this, winning and losing videos, but I only have one for now.

This post is going to have some of my biggest losing hands, a video, and screen shots of my graphs and poker tracker stats.

this my pt general page. I put in a winning session today and yesterday, so I'm climbing back up.

This is my positional stats:

And my misc stats about what hands I'm donking off chips with.

These are my graph for this month since I started being a donkey:

And this is the graph from the last 40k hands, I hit a wall at 20k and have been a barely break even player...

Another poker vid, very nice I'll certainly have a look tomorrow(if time is on my side) and give you a lay-opinion on your play. Having played a lot of NL10 in the past, I hope I can make a few helpfull observations.

cheers! /lb

I would suggest focusing a lot on learning the importance of position. You should be playing drastically looser from the button and CO than from the earlier positions. As an example (and only that, I'm not saying try to emulate my stats), I am a 20/17 player, I have a VPIP from the cutoff of 32 and a VPIP UTG of 12. That's a 20 point spread. You only have like a 7-8 point spread.

This is going to be huge for you and advance your game a lot if you learn to understand position, cbetting, and all that stuff. I suggest studying those sections in the anthology I just posted as well as combing the digests for more info.

PS- didn't look at any of your hands or vids, just stats.

Downloaded the video and attempted to watch it, but the audio was really poor. Blasted the volume on my computer and still couldn't hear it. Any ideas how to fix this?

These look pretty good but you should consider stealing more. Your turn AF is way way way too high, you must be firing far too may 2nd barrels and trying to take people off hands. They called the flop, they are going to call the turn, it's just burning money betting into them. Give up when you get called and don't have a hand, value bet relentlessly when you do.

From UTG to BTN your VPIP should be increasing a lot. It is increasing, just not as much as it probably should. Your UTG and MP VPIP is ok, increase your CO and BTN range a good bit.

Nice assesment by RJ there- it's not much use playing a bunch of bad players if they don't get to play bad because they've been blasted away or paid off by over aggresion when they DO have something- the winning structure is there preflop. Downloading vid, will watch later. Have you got a secretary for your posting - nice job.

Watched the first third of the video. Really solid play there. Gonna watch the rest tomorrow and see if I can spot any leaks. So far I definitely don't see why you shouldn't be crushing the game in the long run.

Honestly I think your VPIP is below optimal. At these limits you should have a huge postflop edge against your opponents, but you can't take advantage if you aren't playing any hands. I'm not saying you have to play LAG, but at least get up to 20 for your VPIP. The best way to raise this number is to broaden your range from late position like others have suggested. Steal some blinds!

This isnt necessarly true. My turn AF is ~4-5 and im not bluffin the turn all that often. Obv there are good spots to fire 2nd barrels w/ air but for the most part this isnt a good idea against typical uNL players esp 10NL but effective against some villians when a read is provided. I dont do this very often but i do b/f a lot of turns which i see alot of ppl wantin to c/c (mostly OOP), IMO b/f turn>>>c/c turn in general. So that will boost up that turn AF which isnt a bad thing IMO. +value bettin obv will. But in general i believe your flop AF>turn>river not sure how much of a difference is standard between each tho.

Couple things that i noticed.
1. Position is one of the most important thngs in poker, especially in the long run. You should be opening up alot more pots from the Button and Cutoff Positions(I am at 29/26 on Button and 24/22 in CO). Something else that plays into position is completing the small blind. It seems that you are doing this entirely too much. Best advice I can give you on this is to play the SB like you play middle posiion raising hands, if it is not good enough to raise in middle position with then dont even think about calling with it.
2. You are showing down way too many hands. I can tell this by you being under 50% at showdown. You can't win every hand. You can try to, but when it looks like you are beat there is nothing wrong with shutting down.

And always remeber
Call<Raise<Fold
