1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
I've been playing at 1/2 tables online for 2 years now with modest success. However I have begun to play 2/4 tables and have made a few observations and wonder if anyone agrees or disagrees with this assessment. In regards to my own play I find I'm making better laydowns and am more selective with starting hands. Not suffering from as many river "bad beats" as at the 1/2 tables. I guess what I'm trying to say is that being a student of SSHM by Miller, Sklansky, and Malmuth, I am seeing better results playing according to the teachings in that book (read it numerous times) in the 2/4 tables. Could this be that people at 2/4 tables are more likely to play "smarter" poker and less likely to pursue longshot draws w/o proper odds? Any thoughts or am I imagining things.

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
i don't fully understand your post, but from what i think you're saying:
2/4, as it is a level up from 1/2, i would expect the games to be a little tougher. perhaps fewer hopeless chasers/river suckouts? SSHE doesn't really apply to games as hard as 2/4 online these days any more though -- more like live games. |

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
Sorry, it does sound confusing now that I read it myself. Yes, I meant that it seems those who might chase draws w/o proper odds and suck out on the river, do not chase as much at the 2/4 level. A poster at another forum says in his opinion, that 1/2 is notoriously the hardest of the low limits to play at.

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
1/2 is the best rake level for bonus clearing so a lot of bonus whores like myself have ended up there for a while. 2/4 is a harder game than 1/2 in my opinion, and 3/6 harder than 2/4, and so on...

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
I think people who move up remember 1/2 being harder than 2/4 just because .50/1 -> 1/2 is a bigger jump than 1/2 -> 2/4. I started in B&Ms and never really played micros as my primary game, but from slumming and various "let's see how far I can run this $20" type challenges I've never seen a 1/2 game that was harder than an average 2/4 game.

like babar said, i think HEPFAP is a better study for these games than SSHE.

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
I've been playing at 2/4$ tables for 2 and a half months now, and I can tell that I was able to do much better results at that limit than at 1/2$. Maybe my game has improved, but I also think that there isn't any (or just a small) difference between the 2 limits.

Re: 1/2 vs. 2/4 Limit Tables Online???
niediam, just curious, what levels are you playing online as of late?
and i didn't exactly say hepfap is more applicable, just that sshe doesn't depict games that are very similar to 1/2 online any more. sshe has very loose games, lots of limpers and bad play, and usually 1/2 online these days is vpips 35 or less and only 2-3 to showdown with solid hands. |
