btw, by chance, is he asian?

No. He's a young looking white kid who wears a backwards cap all the time.

Jeff,
You may or may not remember me from the Taj and Borg last year, but we know each other pretty well. I haven't seen you in a while, probably because I'm playing mostly during the week, but if I see you I'll say hello and point him out if possible.

This kid is the worst person for the game I have ever come in contact with.

"how do you call that!!"
"Thats' all? Ha, you're giving me money!"
"He's getting X:X and he still called! HOW?!"

It's incredible that he thinks he's so smart, and doesn't understand where his money is coming from.

I hope you won this hand and he was flabbergasted at your line every street.

ps. I check the turn and bet or call the river.

If I bet the turn and get CR'd I think it's an easy fold. Even though he shouldn't be very willing to let a free one slide off, whether he sees me as loose or tight, he should know I'm aggressive and am betting lots of hands here. (Which I failed to do and regretted immediately).

Part of the reasoning behind my check was not wanting to get pushed off a five-outer and being pretty sure that he wasn't pushing a draw on the flop.

This is the line I ended up taking. My pause on the turn was when I decided that I was betting any river if he checked it to me (including any club). My main reasoning was not wanting to turn my hand over (90%) and maybe he calls with KJ or less (10%). Not that I played the hand super deceptively, but he rates to be the kind of player who is going to look you up more often after you take one down uncontested, and if I lost I was planning to start trying to play lots of pots with him and start firing away. Unfortunately, he left not too long after he called the river and won with A8o.

Luckily he gave me a crash course on how well he played the hand and then told me how "even though it might have looked light," my middle pair calldown against another pro was probably right. I sure am glad he explained that one to me after I'd already done it and scooped the pot.

Thanks for the comments so far.

-Blake

I have played with "the Professor" quite a bit at Foxwoods. He is actually a nice kid away from the table, but in cancer for any game as jkamowitz pointed out. He constant berating of bad players and talking strategy at the table encourage all bad players to play better.

In the had I would definetely bet this turn and easily fold to a turn checkraise as I don't find him to bet tricky enough to pull a turn checkraise with a draw here. I have seen him make weird raises such as raising out of small blind blind with K-10 off in a six way limped pot but doubt he would pull a turn checkraise with a draw in this situation. I would check river behind if he calls and muck if he bets and a club hits.

Yeah this kid is really annoying. He's pretty weak/tight and is at best breakeven and that's only because most of the other folks suck. I'm happy to have him on my right.

Anyway, against him, when he checks the turn there is a good enough chance that he'll show you his "good fold" and muck to a turn bet that it's worth it to fire. That is assuming that you haven't been caught in a bluff recently. Also he could c/r a draw on the flop, hoping that the A is a scare card for you, so I'm not going to want him to get a free card here.

When he calls the turn, he either has a draw or the weak A that he did have, so there is no value in an unimproved river bet. If he donks the river, I think you have a pretty easy fold.
