Phil Ivey is a great stud player, but sometimes he plays too loosely in televised tourneys. I watched an event on Eurosport, in which he called a raise in the big blind with KT offsuit.

troll account?

He folded when the flop missed him, but I don't think pros should make those kind of plays, especially when out of position. Maybe he was bored or tired though.

Are you sure it wasnt KT suited, I cant imagine the guy whos regarded as being the best player in the worldies making a play thats this bad- he only wins money anyway becuase of the huge fishs in High Skakes games- prety sure any solid 400NL player could take him to the cleaners.

Phil was sitting with about $300k total on all of his tables. Even when he was losing, he didn't seem to mind.

The guy is 30 and, as recently as '98 was working as a telemarketer. His lifetime tournament earnings according to Cardplayer is $6.6 mil. Some have said he's now worth $50 mil or more. He didn't really start playing the big game until after 2000/2001 at least. My question is how did he manage to build such a huge bankroll? If you look at Negreanu who lists his cash winnings, I don't believe he ever won more then $1 million in the big game. 2005, he won about $313k. This year, he's at $422k.

I need to spend more time on NVG apparently. I always feel smarter thanks to the surroundings.

Who has said this? You heard this on the internet, on a message board, on NVG. It gets worse and worse as you go down the line.

1) willing to front a $10 mil buy-in for some now defunct tournament.
2) the $4k-$8k game requires probably at least a $10 mil bankroll.

If he only had a $30-$40 million bankroll, it's pretty great. Even the naysayers have to at least put him at $20 mil.

He started out playing at the Trop in AC w/ his older brother's ID long before Phil was 21. By the time he was legal, he had a half-way decent roll built up and has been going to town ever since.

$50 Mil? Imagine how much he'd have if he'd never learned to play craps. My gf saw him at the Borgata once and she said she watched him drop $500K on dice.
