The variance really depends on how aggro the games you're playing in are.

So everyone agrees on its profitability.

Guesses on BB/100? Im gonna go out on a limb and say from what Ive seen I dont think 3-4 is to out there.

Thoughts?

Also, can someone throw some vpip ranges out there for HU, 3 handed, and 4 handed.

Thanks

I've only played short handed on the bigger games at Stars: 15/30, 30/60 and (unfortunately) 75/150. These were insanely aggro.

Mountain Biker - How much you win or lose playing poker, including Omaha-8, depends on various factors including luck and the skill of your opponents.

[/ QUOTE ]Are you sure of that? Doesn't seem right to me. If somebody makes $100,000 playing poker, then some combination of opponents must have lost more than $100,000 (because of the rake).

[/ QUOTE ]Seems to me like it depends on various factors. I think more people lose money than make it. And of those who show an overall profit, there is a range of success.

[/ QUOTE ]This forum is a strategy and tactics forum where how best to play Omaha-8 in general and different ways to successfully or optimally play various hands are the primary topics of discussion. People have different styles of play and share ideas about those styles.

How much money, big bets, or big blinds you can make or lose depends on how and how well you play the game relative to your opponents, and also on short range luck.

Buzz, I agree with you. Was just thinking that maybe some of the players who have a ton of hands would chime in with how theve done in those regards.

Mntbikr15 - you seem to have made an excellent adjustment to HU LO8 for someone who started this thread less than 2 weeks ago.

I watched some of your match with Noah yesterday.

Do you have any general theories you'd care to share here? If you dont want to give away any secrets to the competition you can always PM me.

We dont play each other at all.

I think you should be playing about 90% of hands HU or so, depending on the player limping the worst 20% or so. 3 handed, you should be playing any A6 or better first in, coordinated A7's or if you think you have a high chance to steal the blinds. I also play most 23 and 24 first in, and any two wheel cards if they have some high strength, eg KQ45.
