Is it bad to make such a small raise on the flop? There are no apparent draws and I'll be getting it in on the turn anyways. Villain is 34/14/5 over 150 hands. Should I make it bigger in case a scare card hits on the turn?

Is villain really capable of floating overs OOP here? I don't believe in scare cards here.

I think the raise is ok. This is the point where you're most likely ahead, so it's the right thing to do. And this is also the point where villain is likely to pay you off (with his overs or worse pair or whatever).

If some high card falls it may or may not hurt you, but it will certainly hurt your ability to get paid off if you're ahead.

With 100bb and position 6.75 is fine imo. OOP I'd make it ~8 all day.

Villain seems like not the person to 3-bet. Do you know anything about his 3-bet tendencies (How light he calls and whatnot)? Anyways, JJ is about the borderline range of hands where you have him beat some of the time.

I like your raise size because there's no draws, but what do you do if he comes over the top?

He seemed to be mediocre overall and positionally unaware and I had been pretty aggressive at the table (as usual) so it was very likely that he called the pf 3b light out of pure frustration. My read was 100% to stack off there no matter what.

I just checked his stats (to make sure I was correct with my read [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]). They changed to 38/17/1.4 over 240 hands. VPIP's per position:

I don't get why people say a large raise pf is needed. I think that is a perfect preflop raise. You still want action with your hand right because it's a good hand.(well maybe not jacks they always get [censored].) BUt yeah looks good.

I originally posted that your raise on the flop was fine but then I got to wondering about our villain's range...

We're Beating: 44/55/66/77/88/99/TT
We're Crushed: QQ/KK/AA
We're Flipping: AQ/AK

A read on our opponent would certainly help out, but I think I might just smooth call this flop and re-evaluate on the turn. If we dodge an A,K, or Q we're probably still in the lead (except for overpairs which are coolers), and can extract more value from those hands that we crush.

Edit: Grunched post originally and then saw that the OP had no problems stacking off here. If so, then I think the raise is fine.
