Tulalip Room Review
It has been a couple of years since I played at Tulalip; I ended up heading there Saturday night with a buddy. Some new stuff, some old stuff. My thoughts-
Appearance/Comforts- The room is BEAUTIFUL. They have doubled the size of it since I was last there, and spent some decent money fixing the joint up. Comfy chairs, nice tables with padded rails, plasma TVs all over- it is as nice as any room I have played in Vegas (haven't played in Wynn or Venetian yet). Game Availability- The board is still run from a white board on an easel- strange to see after all the money they spent on the rest of the room. It is STILL crammed in between a front desk area and a table, so it is STILL hard to get more than 1 or 2 people near it. It is hard to read from more than a few feet away. They had 3 different NL games going (1/2 3/5 and 5/10), and some limit (3/6. 4/8, 10/20..might have been a couple more). They do have a pager system so you can wander the casino until your seat is ready. Waited about 20 minutes for a 4/8 seat; wait for 1/2 NL was much longer. Staff- The management is still mostly clueless. They took [censored] forever to fill seats, even with a long-ish list. The dealers are very hit and miss- some surly, some just quiet, and at least one who talked enough to slow the game down. The majority of them were technically sound, but all but a few were WAY too slow. Cocktailers were reasonably efficient but not nearly as easy on the eyes as one would hope. Players- A couple of drunken loons who got escorted out by security. The rest of the time it was like playing in a morgue- very little table chatter (although my table finally warmed up when my buddy got the seat to my left and we proceeded to have a ball). The play at the 4/8 game I was in was awful- a mix of tight/passives and calling stations (one guy at the end of the table played 70% of the hands to the river with total junk- I loved him). I can count the number of preflop raises that didn't come from me or my buddy on 2 hands over the course of 4-5 hours. A mix of decent cards and decent card sense will net anyone a profit pretty easily. All in all I was surprised at the improvements. The staff still needs a lot of work to make the room run more efficiently, but over all it was a good experience. It is still too damned far for me to go on a regular basis, but I will no longer resist going if someone else wants to drive |

I checked out Muckleshoot on friday. It was much the same. I am equidistant between them both and I can't say which I prefer. Muckleshoot is busier, so I figure more fish. But the players at Tulalip were plenty bad when I was there. -D |

Re: Tulalip Room Review
They have 1/2 NL now? $100 max, I am sure, right?
God, 50 BB NL is so [censored] gay. Get a real structure already, Seattle cardrooms. |

Re: Tulalip Room Review
The poker room management at Tulalip has always been abyssmal. Always.
And, actually, I don't see a problem with a whiteboard in a place with fewer than 20 tables. The real problem is that the whiteboard is in a crappy location. Finally, the NL at Tulalip is irritating, but because of the law and Muckleshoot's (wise) resistance to NL in general, Tulalip is all you are going to get for NL action for the foreseeable future. |

Re: Tulalip Room Review
good review. accurate
Unfortunately, the tribal management bogs them down by inefficiency and serious nepotism, so until manager retires, things will not change. And why should she retire when she does not have to do anything? |

[/ QUOTE ] I think the 1/2 was a max $200 buy in, while 3/5 was $500. Not totally sure, but that is the impression that I got. They announced a "1 200 NL game" starting and I almost had a heart attack- I thought they meant $100/$200 blinds. I finally figured out that they meant $1-200. |

[/ QUOTE ] What they quote them as refers to the buyin. So 1/2 is 100-200 buyin game and 3/5 is a 300-500 buyin game. The blinds in the 1/2 game are 3/5. In the 300/500 game (3/5) the blinds are 5/10. Yes, they smoke lots of crack. Like others have said, their crack smoking will probably not stop any time soon . |

Re: Tulalip Room Review
There's much more action in the 3/5 game than there would be in any 1/2 game. That is all. After calling a small raise OOP with 34s from one of the crappiest players I regularly see in that game, he pushed A8 on a board of 3936 and when i called, he asked if i had a pair yet. I'll have this game just the way it is thank you.

Re: Tulalip Room Review
You just don't realize how much money you'd make if the structure was better. Which is fine, that's how I was too, until I went to Vegas and played in real no-limit games.
