Default $16- AJ on the Bubble

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) internettexasholdem.com

UTG (t3257)
Hero (t2314)
SB (t3334)
BB (t4595)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises to t600, SB raises to t3334, 1 fold, Hero?

Previous hand I raise in SB with 96o and villain comes over the top. Should I have just open shoved or is raise and call fine?

i just open shove. just not enough chips to play postflop if you get called, which seems to happen a lot.

as played, i call the shove.

you have to push this PF. no other play is correct. as far as the call. . . I'm not sure, it could go either way. given your read, I'm leaning towards calling.

How many chips would I need to make a standard raise in this spot. Closer to 15 BB?

it depends on your opponents, if you are against tricky opponents that might push over you with hands like KQ or something and force you to fold, you need to either push or fold up to, around 16BBs or so. I'm become very careful on the bubble with >15BBs and tricky opponents. You should feel comfortable just pushing this hand up to 15BBs or so though I haven't run the numbers.

Definitley shove pf, and I call the shove. He has come over the top before, and folding here will have you at half or less of the other stacks.

You should be shoving/folding almost all the time with the blind levels and your stack size as it is. Shove pf.
