Stars VIP FREEROLL changes = major letdown thread

First of all, how the @!#$ can you you call a tournament with a 10 or 100 FPP buy-in a "freeroll".

Anybody who can't devote the entire Saturday each week to playing in freerolls is still cornholed.

3 $250 daily "freerolls"? Wow. Supernova Elites are sure to cream their shorts over this.

All the good ideas discussed here including T$ or staggering the event days fell on deaf ears.

I love how all you guys complain about Stars, and their changes to their VIP program. The bottom line is, Stars program is the best out there, period. If you don't like it, then go play somewhere else, and see if the grass is greener. Go enjoy the 27% rakeback at FullTilt.

I don't think the freeroll changes are a major letdown.

Stars says they have plans to run them for a few months and then make changes if they feel changes are necessary.

The way I look at it is that these freerolls are just a little something extra that Stars adds to an already awesome VIP program.

Of course my opinion is biased because I can play on Saturdays.

No.
It is not any better at all if you are unavailable to play on Saturdays.
For some time-zones it's really inconvenient.


It's less of a time-commitment each Saturday. But it's still a commitment.
It might be slightly better value but that remains to be seen.


I'm fortunate in that Saturdays work for me.
But I really thought the V$ idea that could be used for tourneys at different times/days was an idea worth exploring.

Worth noting that Stars said they might change it after 3 months if it isn't working so hot.

My hunch is that there might be so many entrants in the tourneys that people around here complain that it still isn't really that great.
'Barely even worth playing' will be a popular opinion.

And others will chime-in and say they can't play them anyway and feel like they're missing VIP-value.


These aren't necessarily my views although I suspect I won't disagree.
There will be fewer complaints about them. More people will like this structure certainly.

But there will be many who will still think it's not so great.

The timing issue is my biggest problem w/ the freerolls. I work almost every Saturday, and on the occasion that I'm off, I rarely want to be tied to a computer all day. I wish they'd vary the times between Saturday and Sunday.

I can't see why they can't make it into monthlys instead, i.e.a 200k monthly supernova freeroll with some qualifying methods for gold and platinum and a 200k freeroll for silver and up. That will take away the frustration for people not able to allocate much playing time for freerolls.

Some people, including me, argued against JUST having them all as monthly freerolls. Because if you can't make the monthly you are missing way more value than missing the weekly.

I think staggered tourneys throughout the week at different days and times to accomodate different schedules is the best way to solve the scheduling stuff.

And, again, this scheduling stuff doesn't even hurt me because Saturdays work perfectly for me.
But I still think the system could be improved to allow better value for everyone. (and I don't know if Saturdays will continue to be so awesome for me in the future).

Seriously, I'm laying 2:1 that any "change" they make is just increasing the prize pools when enough people complain just how worthless they are with the 2000 entrants or whatever.....

I seriously don't understand you Zoo tards jerking off to Lee Jones at every opportunity. While thinking about moving to Stars recently I did some calculations as to how much $$ you get from being a Supernova at Stars 1/2NL, and it's less than the 27% RB at Full Tilt you speak so sourly of.
