Re: My First, And Perhaps Only, Statement About Absolute
[ QUOTE ]
This isn't the Civil Rights Movement. We are talking about internet poker. [/ QUOTE ] We're not just talking about internet poker. We're talking about a business that stole a crapload of money from its customers and was allowed to go unpunished for it's crime. And if they can go unpunished, then ANY poker site can cheat their players again with little risk. Of course it's not the civil rights movement, but it can still be a movement for our rights, our rights to play online poker in an honest environment (those rights are important too). This can only be done by making "those who could cheat you think it is in their best interests not to" and the only way we can do that is by not playing at AP. Ofcourse you think this is impossible, but is it really? It certainly is an extremely hard task when people in powerful positions, such as yourself, deny that there is even a chance this can happen or that they even deserve it. Unfortunately, neither the mainstream media outlets or wellknown poker players have discussed this Absolute Poker Scandal in full (that ESPN article I'm waiting for that was supposed to come out 3 weeks ago comes to mind). Maybe if more people in powerful positions spoke out against the injustices committed by Absolute Poker, they would be ran out of business? I'd bet my money on that, but it's too bad because it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to step up. |

Did You Miss These Words?
"You are not going to put them out of business regardless. And it is still not clear whether they deserve it or whether that would be in the best interests of internet poker in general."
Many of the posts seem to have come from people who didn't seem to realize I said this. Obviously if Absolute owners are thieves instead of clowns and a two plus two boycott would put them out of business, I would be all for it. As it is, I didn't exactly propose we should all go rushing to play there. |

Re: Did You Miss These Words?
I agree with the OP so far as he accepts that "being in a situation where breaking the rules is in the interest of the self" count as understanding of why the scandal occurred, but does not excuse it.
If you are saying that you understand why "they" cheated, that's fine. If you want to extend that to lessening the punishment or the voracity in which people are uncovering the truth and demanding recourse, then I disagree. It's understandable but not excusable. |

Re: Did You Miss These Words?
Like many Sklansky posts it doesn't say some things people want to hear, while saying some things people won't hear.
I don't get the hate for this post even if you wouldn't say some of the things the same way. |

[/ QUOTE ] Mr. Slansky, I realize that you are not advising anyone to play there, and even deterring people to avoid the site by explaining that cheating can still easily go on there. What I had a problem with was you saying there is no way to boycott Absolute Poker. Also, I can't see how you're not sure if Absolute Poker's owners are thieves or clowns. Lets look at what we know: Scott Tom is (still) the owner of Absolute Poker Scott Tom stole money from players on Absolute Poker, Now add 2 and 2 together: The owner of Absolute Poker stole money from players on Absolute Poker. I'm pretty sure that means the owners of Absolute Poker are thieves, as well as clowns. |
