When Dave Meggett played for the Giants, he threw TD passes in 3 consecutive games versus the Redskins (both games in '93 and the first game in '94). He only had 1 other TD pass the rest of his career.

[ QUOTE ]
A random sports fact that Bob Feller just stated about himself on ESPN Wednesday night baseball: When asked how hard he threw in his prime, he said seriously 102-104 touching 107. [/ QUOTE ] Bob Feller is talking out his ass. The radar gun was invented in 1954 and wasn't used for baseball until after he retired. Lots of old baseball guys will say he was the fastest of his era, some say the fastest of all time, but then numerical basis is seriously flawed. Here is an account of how they came up with the 104 mph figure: [ QUOTE ] Still, Feller’s pitching velocity was unrivaled, hence the nicknames Rapid Robert and Bullet Bob. In 1940, the folks were wondering just how fast he really was. Of course, radar guns weren’t around back then, so a test was set up: the plan was for a motorcycle traveling at a speed of 86-miles-per-hour to pass Feller at the exact moment he threw at a target 60 feet, six inches away. When all was said and done, it was determined that the baseball had traveled 104 mph. [/ QUOTE ] It doesn't take a genius to see the flaws in the method. |

Then the Giants replaced him with Herschel Walker, who they barely used. |

Carl Yastrzemski is the only MLB HOFer to have played in the Little League World Series. Jason Marquis also played in the LLWS, and I firmly believe he would probably lead his team to the title if he played again. [/ QUOTE ] Gary Carter is another. |

Here's the list... Julian Javier Tommy Helms Carlos Baerga Juan Bonilla Gary DiSarcina Bill Mazeroski Fernando Valenzuela Tim Foli And the link... http://tinyurl.com/2g6gew |

Re: random sports stats/facts that surprise you when you first hear th
Not sure if this was mentioned but Christian Laettner being a former NBA allstar is not the most suprising/remarkable/unbelievable/interesting/mindboggling note on him.
What is, is that he was on the 1992 DREAMTEAM! You know, the one with Jordan, Magic, Bird, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Robinson, Pippen, Drexler, Ewing, Mullin, and yours mutha f*ing truly....Christian Laettner?????????????????????????? |
