Based on the fact that it was folded to you and theres no one left to act after you. If you were the first one to act after BB, you'd put in the normal 10 chip BB, and then if everyone else folded, 3 would be returned to you before the flop. Same thing.

There's still the sb to act after the button.

as a few said, if UTG goes all-in with 7 but BB is 10, you on button must put in 10, and the big blind gets in for free, so you don't get 3 back.... if you're big blind and no one else called then you'd get 3 back

if one or more others call,
then you're in the hand for 10 (unless there was raise)

i didn't realize it was the big blind in with less... that last answer is correct. 10 unless you're SB.

No matter how much the BB is all-in for, you need to call at least the full value of the BB. If you do and it is only you and the all-in player left, you get to take back the difference.

Is the reply in this article correct?

No, it's not:

"Answer: Yes, the online poker sites have the correct rule: If the big blind can't cover the regular limit, then the bet that everyone has to call, is whatever the big blind goes all-in for. So the in example you have above, the players would have to call $250. The reason for this is because the big blind is just considered the initial bet. The only difference between a big blind bet and other bets is that the big blind bet is forced."

If there are online sites doing this, that's their special rule.

The stack of the player in the big blind position does not determine how much the big blind is, for that level. Her stack only determines how much of the resulting pot she is competing for.

The BB amount is the forced bet amount that has been predetermined. How much of that forced bet, which the player in the position two to the left of the button, the player can match has nothing to do with what the other players have to call for.
