He was giving free cards fricke how the hell are you not pushing out the draws even on the flop ? That hand could have been disaturous

Your opponent can't have 8 gutshots and two flush draws and a pair all at the same time. Ike had the best possible drawing hand against KK on that turn and he still was a big dog. It's better to induce bluffs when some draw gets there and call on any river when you're up against someone who's going to bet on a LOT of river cards. If a nine comes or an 8 or a 7 or a heart (or ANY card other than an ace), Ike is going to try to bluff Daut off whatever he has. Protecting your hand in poker is an overused term and doesn't really mean anything. You're either bluffing or valuebetting.

In a cash game it might be a bet, but I love Daut's check on the turn.

there was over 1m in the pot on the turn, daut couldn't have had more than 1 or 1.5x a PSB left.

ike should have shoved because it's pretty obvious his pair isn't good, he has a ton of outs, he can definitely fold out better hands, and there's already a huge pot to pick up. daut should have shoved because he has a PSB left, picking up the pot is huge, and there are a ton of worse hands (pairs+draws) ike can call with.

i guess you can defend daut's check by saying its ok if he calls any river, but i really can't say ike's check being good here. he can't expect a free card and he wins the pot a good amount of the time by shoving (both by folding out hands and by hitting when called)

maybe this hand (esp. the turn) should be posted in HSMTT. i'm pretty curious to hear more peopls' thoughts

agree with what youre saying. i was actually planning on shoving over a turn bet on anything but an A turn but his check on the 5 kind of threw me off. i figured he either had 78 or total air so i decided to give a free one, but there are definitely a lot of draws out there that i shoudl protect against. i wish i had bet, but i think a check is ok. if i am him i bet 100%
