Re: good live SSLHE in San Diego area?
I've logged over 500 hours in the Ocean's 3/6 game. Very passive, easy reads, experts can have the best of it. Lots of recreational gamblers when the Race for Cash 500k things isn't going on.

Re: good live SSLHE in San Diego area?
Oceanside is about 15-20 miles North of San Deigo, and the town abuts Camp Pendelton, the Marine Corp training area...Oceans 11 is a California card room, i've never visited it, but i would imagine it has more poker action than the indian casinos nearby
there are a few casinos around San Diego, Barona, Scyan, Golden Acorn, Vejas, and a few more northwest of San Deigo...the only one i am familar with is one of those northwest ones about 30-40 miles northeast of San Deigo are a few indian casinos, Harrah's Rincon, Pala, Pachanga, & Valley View, i am sure they all offer 3/6...the only one i know is the Rincon, who offer 3/6 limit 9 seat games with a kill every night, sometimes on nights when they've had a tourney (Thursdays-Saturdays) they get a 4/8 + kill game going for a few hours...the poker room is typical of a Vegas/Nevada casino, 8-9 tables and usually only a couple or three busy...if you go to any of these Northern San Deigo Casinos drive there during the day...the road into the reservation is a narrow mountain two-laner with several curves for about 15 miles or so, no lighting and some impatient motorists to content with (meanwhile, Intersate 5 goes right through Oceanside, so its a much easier place to get to)...the Rincon is a fairly nice place...comparable to a middle to good Vegas casino (Sam's, Rampart, Poker Palace)--but not top end such as the Mirage, Bellagio, Wynn etc...for playing 3 hours in their 3/6 & 4/8 games i got a mail offer a few weeks later of two nights weekday free stay and $5 food credit---rooms are around $100 per night retail |

Re: good live SSLHE in San Diego area?
Thanks a lot very useful info. We have kids and would be going at night, so Oceanside sounds like a winner. I think we're staying near Sea World... any of the others (Barona, Golden Acorn, etc.) closer?

Ocean's 11 is the closest to Sea World. It's just up the freeway.

Re: good live SSLHE in San Diego area?
I prefer the 4/8 games there to the 3/6. There seems to be more 4/8s going on than 3/6s and the play seems looser. From what I've heard, the 8/16 is a great game to play as well. You can get a sandwich, fries and a coke all for $2 and pretty good as well!!

[/ QUOTE ] as you are going with your family Oceanside would probably be better i think if you are on a budget...hotel rooms in San Deigo are relatively expensive--$130-160 per night--i think Oceanside hotels/motels may have some cheaper rooms; fwiw Barona is top drawer, and so are the hotel rates--+200 per night for the barest they offer.. |
