Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
hmm that's a pretty sick spot (when he bets $14 to you!). I would call and reevaluate turn, because if you checkraise and he calls or 3bets (as he did), you have a crappy decision ahead of you. Your play also depends on how he perceives you.
Maybe flat call and donk safe-ish turn? |

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
I would just fold or squeeze pf. KTs is not the type of hand I want to be playing OOP against a LAG.

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
Well, you can't fold now. Who knows on your line, it depends on my exact reads on Villain e.g. PFR.

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
After getting to the flop though I'd base my decision on how often he double and triple barrels. If his postflop aggression is through the roof I'll call him down on a lot of boards or if he slows down on the turn I'll call and donk into him. As played I'd call the shove but wouldn't be happy about it.

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
I personnally fold pf, if I call pf, I ch/c flop reevaluate on turn, prolly donking non heart turn for 2/3 pot, folding to raise, checking river if called.
And now I've just realised why I fold pf, this is just too hard to play. |

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
Yeah it really is hard to play, but I think it only seems more that way because we look at two suited broadways and think "damn that's a great hand, this sucks"...
Just treat it on flops like these like you would treat the top pairs you flop with mid-high suited connectors or suited aces or whatever. |

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
you doing that preflop is exactly what the lag wants to happen: he gets to play against you in position and you have a marginal hand. def fold preflop. you are letting the dude take control and position at the same time. if you are gonna play this OOP, at least take control and re-raise.

Re: top pair good kick oop against a lag
you ever ask yourself why you're raising the flop?
