Re: WSOP Trip Report part 19, The Evolution of Live
I have a real hard time (read: almost impossible) sleeping out there. I don't know what it is but I just can't sleep there...even with meds...or meds and alcohol. I'm just wondering how much of all the 'bad stuff' mentioned in the op is ultimately caused by the sleep deprivation. I usually stay for a whole week and am right where the "End of week 1" paragraph says except I'm totally exhausted/fatigued to the point that I can't see straight...but still can't sleep.
I dunno about you Bond (or anyone else) but getting a handle on this sleep thing is at the top of my list of things to 'fix' before I return. |

Re: WSOP Trip Report part 19, The Evolution of Live
Great TR again. Maybe the best yet. I also encourage Bond to post these as a blog, and then to continue the blog with his online and other live experiences. And at some point, you should consider writing a book about the WSOP/live experience. GL in the ME, to Bond and all the other 2p2ers out there...

[/ QUOTE ] I'll go out on a limb and say your trouble sleeping stems from one or more of the following * Uneven sleep pattern (going to sleep/waking up at wildly varying times) * Bad diet * Looong hours playing and tons of other impressions. Your brain is working overtime and you have a difficult time settling down when you're supposed to sleep. * Too much alcohol * Environmental factors (noise, heat etc) * Long, exhausting days in the heat/cold (compounded if you're out of shape) wearing your body down Could be tons of stuff. I think playing every day is a really bad choice if you're there for an extended period of time, and likely -EV compared to taking a day off and keeping a regular schedule. |

Re: WSOP Trip Report part 19, The Evolution of Live
Bond,
I know exactly what you feel like. I'm actually not going to play the ME just because I'm so burnt out and tired of live tournaments that I just don't want to invest the 10k. I just don't want to do it. If I played, I'd be in pure robot mode because I wouldn't want to be there. I'm heading out on Friday. Looking forward to a "return to normalcy." Vegas has been great, and I've had an awesome time, and ran good this past month, but I gotta get out of here. I'm tired. Anyway, I'll see ya tonight dude. |

Re: WSOP Trip Report part 19, The Evolution of Live
So are the MTTers somewhat united in the opinion that the WSOP is just a completely bloated monstrosity at this point? I'm completely honest in saying that I'm not said to not be there at all, especially when I get the best parts through a combo of Lol, Bondaments and goofyballer prop bets.

[/ QUOTE ] I'd say WSOP itself is still a pretty awesome spectacle, it's the surrounding parts during extended stay that can be depressing and wearisome. While I was glad to leave after a week-long stay in early June, I'm also excited to be heading back to Vegas on Friday for the main event. PS. Live PLO is megafun. |

Yep. * Bad diet Nope, i eat protien bars in the morning and at night and stay away from junk food. For dinner i got somewhere nice and order healthy, non fried food. * Looong hours playing and tons of other impressions. Your brain is working overtime and you have a difficult time settling down when you're supposed to sleep. Absolutely. * Too much alcohol I have drank twice on this trip, never to the point of inebriation. * Environmental factors (noise, heat etc) Hell yea. * Long, exhausting days in the heat/cold (compounded if you're out of shape) wearing your body down Nah, not out of shape. I bundle up in my suits for the cold so its not a problem. |
