Re: Help with wine
Go wine tasting a lot and see what you like. There are no right answers. My advice is to keep a wine journal so you remember things. My problem has always been that I can't remember what I like since I got too plastered last time drinking it

Re: Help with wine
[ QUOTE ]
Every time I've ever been to a "wine tasting party", I've tasted some of the worst wine of my life. Little good can come from amatuers picking up a cheap bottle at the grocery store just before the party. [/ QUOTE ] You've obviously never been to a well run wine tasting party. I had one and brought an expert in for free. He owned a liquor store and did these wine tastings on the side. Obviously, he was using this to sell wine that was being tasted, but everyone was aware of this. It was a big hit, and our friends keep asking when we'll do it again. |

[ QUOTE ] Every time I've ever been to a "wine tasting party", I've tasted some of the worst wine of my life. Little good can come from amatuers picking up a cheap bottle at the grocery store just before the party. [/ QUOTE ] You've obviously never been to a well run wine tasting party. Obviously, he was using this to sell wine that was being tasted, but everyone was aware of this. It was a big hit, and our friends keep asking when we'll do it again. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, you did it the correct way. The previous suggestion that you have a wine tasting where everyone bring a bottle of XXXXX type wine is sure to result in some of the worst wine you've ever tasted. By all means, have a pro set it up, or at least pick the wines for you in the store. Just getting the proper order of tasting is nearly impossible in a random type event, let alone getting anything of quality in the first place. If you ever go to a winery, there's a reason they have you taste in a certain order. If you want to test this theory, when you're done, ask to taste the first wine again. You'll be surprised how bad it now tastes. |
