Re: WSOP E Real Bracelet or Not?
fatshaft yes they are different corporate entities but the staff who are currently running EPT are mostly ex stars staff etc. They are really associated in many ways and I think it's great for poker. The WSOP tries to remove the online sites while since EPT is part of one it is much more invovled. I think it's great for all those invovled getting live players into seriously online tourneys and viceversa. Also the EPTs live webcasts are wayyy better then the WSOP webcasts were and def will improve as the fields get larger and the staff get even stronger.

Re: WSOP E Real Bracelet or Not?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If I had a prop bet about someone not cashing in the WSOP this year, I'd be pretty pissed off if they whiffed in the WSOP, cashed in the WSOPE instead, and didn't pay up. [/ QUOTE ] This has nothing to do with anything. [/ QUOTE ] OK what if the bet was that they wouldn't win a WSOP bracelet this year? [/ QUOTE ] If you made a bet earlier in the year that was clearly referring to the WSOP series played in vegas, it is obvious that bet would not include any WSOP-E bracelets, only because the WSOP-E was not public knowledge until after your bet was made. And the result of your bet has no bearing on this current debate which is actually pretty interesting. |

Re: WSOP E Real Bracelet or Not?
[ QUOTE ]
The better question is, where is everyone? The fields for the HORSE and PLO were tiny. I can understand HORSE, since the stud games might not be as well-known in Europe (they are barely known to the public at large here), but I thought PLO was Europe's game of the continent. Run some satellites, or something. [/ QUOTE ]The PLO field was not that small, the buyin was £5000, more than the $10000 PLO event at the WSOP in vegas which had a top prize of $768k, the top prize in the WSOPE PLO event was equivalent to about $470k which isn't much smaller and similar to the top prize of the WSOP omaha event as recently as 2005. Whether they are counted as official WSOP bracelets or not winning one of these events is certainly more impressive than winning one of the early WSOP events. This one appears to have been a $10k heads uo tournament with a $10,000 buyin and $20000 first prize. http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/even...a=r&n=8186 |

Re: WSOP E Real Bracelet or Not?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Don't see them moving it away from Las Vegas, don't think any other casino in the world has the capabilities to run the series. London has it stretched over 3 casino which each hold only 100 players each. Unless they can get a bill through parliament that allows the UK to build a super casino of similar size to those in vegas it is never going to happen. Not sure if there is a casino in Europe (Monte Carlo maybe?) that is big enough to host the event. [/ QUOTE ] The first "super casino" will be built in Manchester. The bill has already been passed through and I expect to see at least 1 of these "super casino's" built in all of the major cities in England. [/ QUOTE ] lol, the one already approved for Manchester is in doubt since Gordan Brown ordered a "review" of its effects. We'll be lucky if we get one supercasino let alone one in all major cities. |

Re: WSOP E Real Bracelet or Not?
[ QUOTE ]
lol at most of you even discussing this when 75% of you won't even play in a WSOP event let alone WSOPE [/ QUOTE ] What the hell does it matter? If not for the 75% of people who will never play in these events then the WSOP would still be a relatively unknown event in Las Vegas that might get one or two hours of late night coverage on ESPN2 instead of months of primetime coverage. Guess I shouldn't discuss the NFL season with my buddies either since I'm unlikely to ever play in the NFL either. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] No WSOP bracelet is a real bracelet if it is played outside of the USA in the same way that no Olympic gold medal is real if held outside of Greece? I don't get the concern.
