Treasure Island (MN) $2-$60 Game

I was wondering if any 2+2ers play in this game. I was thiking about making the trip down to play and was wondering if you fine people could give me some information.

-What is the normal buy in?
-Does it play like 1-2 NL or more like 15-30 or even 30-60?

I would search for posts about the 5-150 game at Casino Arizona as this 2-60 is basically just a smaller version of that game.

My guess would be 1/2 where CA is more like 2/5, although I've never been there.

i was at TI last week with some friends playing drunken 2/4. they had a 2-60 going that looked like the greatest game under the sun.

Just wanted to follow up my earlier comment...

I would personally buyin for $500 but in reality you should base that off of your bankroll and what you are comfortable sitting with, I would prefer to cover anyone at the table in case we got in some good raises, not sure if this game has a cap on the buyin though

As far as how it plays, its going to play like a NL/PL mix preflop (and flop depending on preflop action) then become a limit game after that if a lot of chips get in the middle and you cant give any draw a good reason to fold due to the odds being laid by that time

TI is very nice room and the competition is generally easier than Canterbury.
They have 2-10, 4-20 and 5-30/5-60 running some nights. I say some because sometimes higher than 4-20 never gets going. The best chance for the big game to get going is Fri/Sat nights. I've only played as high as 4-20 but The Station's explaination of how these games play is pretty dead on.

I get the rooms confused, but I believe that Treasure Island and Hinckley spread 5/60 Hold Em. Mille Lacs definitely spreads 2/60, at least that was one their interest list last Saturday afternoon.

I don't think the Mille Lacs game goes very often, but serious money is lost in the other rooms. Big losses also occur on the 4/20 and 3/30 games. The most popular game, in terms of tables going on a Friday or Saturday night, is 2/10.

A few warnings about TI. The room is very smokey. Technically it is no smoking, but the smoke rolls right in through louvers from the casino floor. My biggest beef is the dealer shortage. There can be empty tables along with lists 20 deep and they won't open a table until a predetermined time when a dealer reports to work. Other rooms have dealers that work both poker and blackjack, so the floor can move dealers between the poker room and blackjack pit as needed. Not TI.

I find it odd that all the reservation rooms use spread limit for games above 3/6, while Canterbury only deals fixed limit games. Wonder why?

I 100% agree with this.
If you go on a weekend either get there at like noon/1PM or don't bother until like 7PM. If you show up at like 4PM you will be waiting for a while to get 2/10.

That is strange about the Indian casino spread limit.
I also have no clue and would love to hear it if anyone knows why this is.

Maybe they feel the customers will lose more faster than fixed limit.

When Dave Eglsteder was still at Canterbury he told me they would never spread NL even if the laws in MN were changed because they didn't want the customers going broke (even with a capped NL buy-in).
