Re: Poker in Sacramento
I was in Sacramento recently for work. I wasn't looking for NL, but they didn't have any at the 3 places I went to, so my guess is it is not legal. Most games in town are 3/6 or 4/8 limit. The only place I saw anything bigger than 4/8 with a kill was at the Capitol Casino, where they had one table each of 9/12 and 12/24. I was on the list for 9/12 for over 3 hours, they finally called me to a game when I was tired and getting up to leave.

Re: Poker in Sacramento
9/18 and 12/24 LHE at Capitol Casino. 15/30 LHE at the Phoenix. 20/40 LHE Thursday nights and nightly 5/10 700 max NL at Lucky Derby.
Those are the biggest games in town. Deuces Wild in Auburn ran a bigger NL game, but I haven't been up there since the fall and do not know what the state of the games is there. |

Does Limelight still have 6/12 on thursdays? [/ QUOTE ] It didn't the last time I was there. They did have the 4/8 up and running. I got kinda pissed the last time I went there when I tried to raise in the 4/8 game, and only brought 15 chips over the line when trying to raise to 16. It was ruled a call, which is idiotic. My intention was clear, and I was only one chip short. I've been playing the 9/18 at Capitol and NL at the Derby lately. Stupid rulings piss me off. /rant |

Re: Poker in Sacramento
Another Sacramento development of note: The Capitol now takes a full drop if there is any action pre-flop, abandoning its no flop-no drop policy. This is a pain at 9/18, but it catastrophic at lower limits.

Re: Poker in Sacramento
Just FYI, the 3/6 at the Limelight featured the worst poker playing I have ever seen. Up $250 in 3 hours, and I didn't get particularly lucky. I was on the list for the 4/8, but it looked like the people weren't having much fun there and it wasn't nearly as good a game, so I declined the seat when it came up.

Re: Poker in Sacramento
the replies have been accurate as far as limit. The capitol casino 9-18/ 12-24 game is not a good game and I would not advice one to play there. You will be playing with multiple teams and everyone knows it. The floor does nothing about it because the teams make up the regulars but it not a straight up game. The 15-30 at the phoenix is better and from everything I have seen is legit.
As far as no limit goes you only have 2 options. the 5-10 at the lucky derby usually has a ton of action and if you catch it at the right time there can be 15-20 k on the table. If you want bigger action go to deuces wild in auburn. on tues, thurs and sat they run a good 10-25 nl game that plays more like a 25-50 nl game. there is a no cap buy in and that game can get really big. hope that helps |

I have not seen anything egregious, mostly soft play once two players are heads up. I did see a father/daughter team trapping, squeezing, and the like in a 3/6 game there once some time ago, and you are right about the floor not doing anything about it, but I have not seen evidence of this in the 9/18 or 12/24 game. I think if you maintain standard levels of vigilance you should be fine, just be ready to leave the game if shenanigans occur since you know the floor will do nothing about it. |

Re: Poker in Sacramento
i think it is pretty blatant in the 9-18 games. especially the main table. the first table is usually fine but once they move you over be prepared. you see basically the same people there daily and it is literally you against most of the table imo. it is as blatant as i have ever seen.
