whats the going rate on a hit?
how much does your typical, run-of-the-mill hit cost these days?
my guess is 15k. also, how wide is the spectrum for quality in having it done? i think the cheapest you could go is like 500 dollars to have some crackhead at least try to kill the person. and how much is like a very well done and professional hit go for. say, the perfect crime? i am thinking 100k. obviously the price is dependent upon how high-profile the person is. i.e. much more expensive for a celebrity or politician. but yeah i would guess it is: bare-bones crackhead killing: 1k budget/economy killing: 10-20k high performance pro job: 100k. are my numbers way off? what think you? |

Re: whats the going rate on a hit?
heh "budget killing".. makes it sound like you're trying to decide between what type of car to rent.
I'd guess $25K for a top end. I'm sure there are tons of people out there who would kill for much less than $10K. |

I think 'budget/economy' hits are going to be ~40k at least.

Re: whats the going rate on a hit?
I'm pretty sure that you could find someone that would get the job done for $5K.

Re: whats the going rate on a hit?
I know a zip who will do it for under 1k. Your numbers are really high though, you could probably have 90% of the general population done away with for under 10k.

Re: whats the going rate on a hit?
i think this has got to be a very differentiated industry. low end your numbers are right imo but i think high end would be as much as $1M (or more!) for the right organization/person to kill. like if they were higher profile or whatever. imagine for a hit on GWB, how much you'd have to pay...

Re: whats the going rate on a hit?
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitman
"A study by the Australian Institute of Criminology of 162 attempted or actual contract murders in Australia from 1989 to 2002 showed that the most common reason for murder for hire was "in relation to the dissolution of an intimate relationship". The study also found that the average payment for a "hit" was A$12,700 and the most commonly used weapons were firearms. " |
