Are there any props left these days?
With the poker boom is the prop a dead profession? Do any smaller rooms in Vegas still have them? I recall always seeing the signs that props would be indentified by the house if requested, but on past trips I never bothered asking.

Re: Are there any props left these days?
Boyd Gaming actively tried to hire and keep props on staff about a year or so ago for the Stardust and Sam's town. It didn't pan out too well for either the company or the employee. I'm not sure if they still do nowadays or not.
Don't confuse this wtih dealers playing on the clock. Most of the time there are extra dealers or the day is a little slow, so they play. They are not "props" per say, they get to play what they want. A hired prop would actually be told by management when and where to play in the cardroom. They haven't a choice in that lots of times. Other times they'll say "go play 15/30 over there or play 30/60 over there". SoCal has props all over the place. |
