Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
[ QUOTE ]
the problem is that JG thinks he has the best hand so as you said he won't value bet, he'll prolly shove and Doyle can't call a 250-300K bet on the river with that hand so he would be wasting 75K (if another spade comes JG will bluff and then there's no way Doyle is calling) [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, the 9-high flush happens to be one of the hands that's a real problem because Jamie misunderstands his own strength. He might well bet it big and I'd fold. I think with low flushes (7-high or worse) he'd give it up. You also have to think there's a good chance that he's going to say something retarded on the river that gives away his hand even more clearly. But Jamie does seem scared of big pots and I wouldn't be surprised if he tiny bet the 9-high flush. BTW for all the talk of Jamie semibluffing - I haven't seen it from his TV play. He keeps saying how he would make the big move if he had some kind of combo, but from what I've seen he tends to play kinda passive with good equity combos and prefers to bluff without good outs. |

Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
I find it funny that the only time Gold has succesfully bluffed someone out of a big pot, he was just valuebetting a weaker hand.
(well, he bluffed Elezra earlier in the season, but that was like a 20k pot and Eli had third pair or something) |

Sometimes I think he slowplays pair+FDs on the flop, which makes me giggle. |

About the Doyle vs. Jamie hand : I think vs. a tough opponent Doyle's fold was correct, but against Jamie it was wrong. The reason is that Jamie seems to play the river absolutely horribly. He never value bets thin and he often bluffs tiny. Against a good player Doyle would have to call the turn and then face another big river bet, which would be a very evil decision. Like for example if it was Antonius who raised the turn I would crap my pants. Against Jaime, you can just fold the river to a huge bet, and perhaps call a tiny one. Hell if he checks the river you can probably value bet him because he has a lower flush there a lot. It's definitely a very thin spot, but the fact that you have an edge on Jamie on the river makes it pretty ++EV to call IMHO. Doyle may have also been just taking it easy to make sure he didn't lose a big pot and tilt himself. [/ QUOTE ] the problem is that JG thinks he has the best hand so as you said he won't value bet, he'll prolly shove and Doyle can't call a 250-300K bet on the river with that hand so he would be wasting 75K (if another spade comes JG will bluff and then there's no way Doyle is calling) [/ QUOTE ] yeah but Doyle's call would have made him consider... |

Yeah the numbers and Patrik's play look believable but no way is Jamie pushing there with 2's lol. I always read -Jamie all in=pretty strong hand.
