In terms of operating ability. How much of a difference is there between like the q6600 (2.4) and the E6550 (2.33)?? The 2.4 is a quad while the 2.33 is teh duo.

not sure what you mean by operating ability? In terms of raw speed it's going to be pretty much negligible. If you're just using the comp for poker etc you're almost never going to be taxing all four processors and the duo is going to work fine.

I went with the quad because I usually have two processors dedicated full time to numerical calculations.

Neko

Thats kind of what I was wondering. I think the most taxing load I would put on a computer at one time is to have like 4 tables open, pt, pokerace, websites, music. So not a whole lot for a computer to deal with. So the 2.33 duo is just fine?

Thanks,

yeah the duo will def be able to handle that load with ease. Before my current system I would run all that stuff on an old pentium 4 without too much trouble.

unless you are running highly threaded applications you wont notice any performance boost from Quad core.

If you are a few applications it may help to have quad core if you

Me? I Am buying it from one of the stores on Trademe.co.nz (A Ebay type site in NZ), I was going to build it myself but the cost of parts and aggravation of building and getting it set up vs buying already built and tested was only about $200 so I figure it's worth it.
