I think I probably go the other way on each of your picks, although I don't like a play on any of them as the first two are hugely dependent on which Italy/England/Ireland turn up and it can be hard to judge how big a blowout France will manage. I'd have made a small play on France if the line was in the region of -10.

But you got 0.54 units of humour value from the first seven minutes, right?

It was unreal. Never seen anything like it before and don't expect to ever again.

France (-3) to beat England 10/11 4 units

Game is a couple of weeks away but I just don't understand this line. England will probably make some changes but I can't think of any that would make them only a 3-point dog, even at home. This looks very good to me provided Laporte doesn't do anything crazy.

Neither do I, being at home really isn't going to make that much of a difference. I'd have said the line should be closer to France -6.

FWIW where are you getting this line? Most books either haven't got a line up yet, or have France -5, the closest I can see is Skybet -3 but that's 4/5.

Wales (-6) to beat Italy 10/11 2 units

I was leaning Wales as it was. I think Italy are being too highly rated after an impressive but lucky performance in Scotland and Wales aren't getting enough credit for a display that would have won the match against French sides of recent years.

The squad was just named with a few good surprises: Horsman, Mark Jones and Morgan all fit and starting. That gives them a quality back division that will be able to do damage to Italy if they can get their hands on the ball. I don't see the Italian backs cracking the Welsh defence.

Up front, Italy have lost some beef in Ongaro and Castro but would still be expected to have the edge in terms of muscle. The Welsh have named a heavy pack and they have a very skilful back row that should be able to secure good ball and make some breaks. This, plus an entire front row waiting on the bench for the Welsh means I think they have what it takes to match Italy. If they get clean ball out to the backs this won't be close.

I just made my first ever sportsbet and lost $100 on Ireland to win with a -13 handicap. Dammit, they sucked ass today.

Agreed. Also:

Wales (-6) to beat Italy 10/11 2 units -2.54 units

F**k. That's all I can say. Come on France.
